Connell Cunningham, Ph.D., is the Laboratory Manager for CPS. Connell is an experienced and highly qualified mass spectrometrist who is adept at developing methods for quantitative analysis of molecules and ensuring quality and safety of operations in a GLP-compliant environment. He handles the day-to-day operations of the analytical laboratory, coordinates the activities of the scientific projects, and ensures that Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied.

Connell spent several years working as a senior scientist for The Rohm and Haas Company and later The Dow Chemical Company. During that time he developed methods for the structural elucidation of small molecules, oligomers and polymers using GC, LC and MALDI in addition to quantitative analysis methods using UHPLC. Connell has experience with a wide variety of mass analyzers which include single quadrupole, triple quadrupole, quadrupole ion trap, time-of-flight and quadrupole ToF. He also has experience in base hydrolysis and various wet chemistry techniques.

Connell earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry Secondary Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, his M.S. in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
