CPS Capabilities Include Acrylamide Analysis

Over the past five years, acrylamide has been designated a substance of concern by many national and international health authorities (FAO/WHO in 2005, Canada in 2009, and the EU earlier this year), and guidelines are presently being considered by the FDA. It is scrutinized because of its potential carcinogenicity and its presence in a wide variety of human foodstuffs, particularly plant-based foods that are rich in carbohydrates and low in protein, when cooked at high temperatures. CPS is equipped to perform HPLC MS/MS analysis for acrylamide in food at a detection limit of less than 2 ppb (parts per billion). A runtime of less than two minutes per sample yields a high-throughput analysis with good precision.
